What did Spring-time whisper?

WHAT did Spring-time whisper?
O ye rivulets,
Waking from your trance so sad,

Pleased to welcome fisher-lad
With his little nets,
Speed, for summer's in the air,

Prattle, for the breeze is warm,
Chatter by the otter's lair,
Bubble past the ivied farm;

Wake the primrose on the banks,
Bid the violet ope her eyes,
Hurry in a flood of thanks

Underneath serener skies!
What a revel's coming soon—
Fairies trooping o'er the leas,
Making magic by the moon,

Crowned with wood anemones!
What a haunted heart the thrush
Nurses in the blackthorn bush,

Full of splendid songs to sing,
Cheery welcomes of the Spring—
Spring has come!

NORMAN ROWLAND GALE (1862-1942),
Spring, Collected Poems, 1914

Dearest Friends and Readers,
may your days be filled with touches of Beauty,
and may you enjoy sprinkles of Joy
throughout this wonderful period of the year,
that is full Spring.
See you soon ❤

P.S.: All the shots were taken inside Tenuta Geremia

COSA ha sussurrato la primavera?

1 - IMMAGINE DI COPERTINA - Piccolo cespo di anemoni di bosco

COSA ha sussurrato la primavera?
O voi fiumicelli,
Svegliatevi dal vostro triste torpore,

IMMAGINE 2 - Ansa del fiume che fa stagno

Date lieti il benvenuto
al giovane pescatore,
che reca le sue piccole reti,
Presto, perché l'estate è nell'aria,

IMMAGINE 3 - Rivo

Mormorate, perché la brezza è tiepida,
Chiacchierate presso la tana della lontra,
Borbottate oltre la fattoria avvolta dall’edera;

A presto ❤

P.S.: tutte le fotografie sono state scattate all'interno di Tenuta Geremia

Souvenir of November's Plays of Colors

Fall, leaves, fall

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

1821, by EMILY BRONTË (1818- 1848)

Cadono, le foglie, cadono

Cadono, le foglie, cadono; muoiono, i fiori;
Si allunga la notte e si accorcia il giorno;
Ogni foglia mi parla di beatitudine
Svolazzando giù dall'albero d'autunno.
Sorriderò quando ghirlande di neve
Fioriranno dove dovrebbe crescere la rosa;
Canterò quando il declino della notte
Inaugurerà una giornata più triste.

1821, EMILY BRONTË (1818-1848)

Autumn Fires

In the other gardens
   And all up in the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
   See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over,
   And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
   The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
   Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
   Fires in the fall!

1913, by ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON (1850 - 1894)

Fuochi d'autunno

Negli altri giardini

I fiori in estate,
    I fuochi in autunno!

1913, ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON (1850-1894)

To Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
  Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
  With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
  And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
    To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
  With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
    For summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

1819, by John Keats (1795-1821)

All'autunno

Stagione delle nebbie e della dolce fecondità,
  Intimo amico del sole che matura;
Trami con lui come caricare e benedire
  Con i frutti le viti che circondano i tetti di paglia, avvolgendoli;
  E colmare tutti i frutti di maturazione fino al midollo;
    E gonfiare la zucca e gonfiare i gusci di nocciola

1819, John Keats (1795-1821)

After the terrible Summer that condemned us to too much drought and heat,
I did not think I could photograph any flower this year ...
but our Autumn, full of rains, compensated for the Summer and gave us some flower in bloom!
I hope you have enjoyed these belated gifts and that they have lightened your heart.
I wish you much serenity, Dear friend and readers of mine,
thanking you as always

See you soon ❤

Vi auguro tanta serenità, miei Cari amici e lettori,
ringraziandovi come sempre

A presto ❤

Sheltered for the Winter.

Sweet life! how lovely to be here
And feel the soft sea-laden breeze
Strike my flushed face, the spruce's fair
Free limbs to see, the lesser trees'

Bare hands to touch, the sparrow's cheep
To heed, and watch his nimble flight
Above the short brown grass asleep.
Love glorious in his friendly might,

Music that every heart could bless,
And thoughts of life serene, divine,
Beyond my power to express,
Crowd round this lifted heart of mine!

Claude McKay (1889 - 1948), Winter in the Country

They're clear and sunny days those of this first decade of the Winter and the beginning of the new year, serene, but also rather cold.

Nothing better for the rest of our succulent and Mediterranean plants that are now recovered in our ORANGERIE at the beginning of December to preserve them like every year from the cold season, sheltered from the frost and the most intense frost that they cannot stand.
The most delicate plants do not stand out here, but it is enough to give them a shelter to allow them to spend their Winter healthy and to find themselves in Spring looking very good.
Just follow me, I'm leading you in our 'tools-and-plants-shed' located in the heart of the Tenuta Geremia park.

It is quite small in size - around 20 square metres - but it is enough to accommodate the plants and furnishings that in the Summer show themselves among the foliage of the perennial shrubs and the trees populating our gardens.

On the outside, a sober Palladian style suggests an extremely rigorous setting inside too,

actually, with chalk and wooden walls and ceilings, in its inside simplicity reigns sovereign making it every year welcoming more and more ... obviously it is not heated and, when outside the temperatures have to go down even a lot, here the mercury column does not go beyond the thermal zero, which is static, harmless even for the most delicate plants.

And it's just here that succulents, with the cold, the sunlight and their vegetativ rest, get themselves ready for their Spring blooming

“Never are voices so beautiful as on a winter's evening, when dusk almost hides the body,
and they seem to issue from nothingness
with a note of intimacy seldom heard by day.”

Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941), Night and Day

And on these verses that recreate the characteristic charm of the Winter late afternoons,

I'm sending you my warmest hug,

see you soon 💕

Claude McKay (1889 - 1948), Winter in the Country

giorno.

Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941), Night and Day

a presto 💕
