Secret tales from a misty garden.

Charles Dickens la definiva:
ACQUA INCORPOREA CHE PASSA NELL'ATTIMO DI UN COLPO D'OCCHIO ( 'BLEAK HOUSE', capitolo introduttivo )

PEARL FOG.

Open the door now.
Go roll up the collar of your coat
To walk in the changing scarf of mist.

Tell your sins here to the pearl fog
And know for once a deepening night
Strange as the half-meanings
Alurk in a wise woman's mousey eyes.

Yes, tell your sins
And know how careless a pearl fog is
Of the laws you have broken.

Carl Sandburg

a presto ♥

☞ COMUNICATO IMPORTANTE PER I FOLLOWERS  ☜

Pubblicato: 21 dicembre 2015

Charles Dickens named it:
INCORPOREAL WATER PASSING IN THE MOMENT OF A SIGHT ( 'BLEAK HOUSE',
introductory chapter )

highlighting its inconsistency and its intangibility, the transience which it appears and disappears, it moves with ... furtive and fleeting ...

The American poet Carl Sandburg (1878 - 1967) caught rather  the chromatic component, if we about chromaticism may speak, seeing it as PEARLY ...

I'm talking about the fog, or if you prefer of the mist, that is the fascinating 'sendal' which now dims, now wraps with light objects, shapes, colors, so that everything appears to be a simulacrum of itself, and then suddenly reappears in its real consistence, in a play of form and substance that captures one's senses ... and if you happen then, almost as by magic, that the rays of the sun try to enter its plot, the glow that it takes almost leads to low your gaze, as if to such a magnificent manifestation of Nature you should pay a deference and almost awe by all human beings ...

PEARL FOG.

Go roll up the collar of your coat

Tell your sins here to the pearl fog
And know for once a deepening night

Yes, tell your sins
And know how careless a pearl fog is
Of the laws you have broken.

Carl Sandburg

☞ AN IMPORTANT COMUNICATION FOR MY FOLLOWERS   ☜
Thank you CONNIE  ( I've copied and pasted from your blog )

Posted: December 21, 2015

In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.
As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.
We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.
We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers.

OMBRA ANTICA

A presto ♥

ANCIENT SHADE.

You will find more in woods than in books. Trees and rocks will teach you things that no teacher will ever tell you.

Bernard de Clairvaux, Letters, XII sec.

 - photo 1

I love ancient objects,
they talk me about the past, their history, and for the same reason I love old furniture and old buildings, I like to restore them, to bring to light their original appearance leaving as much as possible intact the patina of time and the signs of their age, I relate to them with the utmost respect and pay them homage in order to preserve them as much as possible .. The same attitude is induced to me by years old plants, I try to give them new life meticulously guarding their appearance, expression of the time they have already lived .. "You order Nature just obeying her," wrote Sir Francis Bacon (English philosopher, 1561-1626) in his Essays (Novum organum, I, aphorism 3).

Years ago when we moved to Tenuta Geremia I was enthusiastic about the hugheness of its spaces and the boundless green that surrounds it, but only later and gradually, over time, often by chance, I discovered with almost childlike wonder and joy, unexpected views that spoke to me of its age, so remote from getting lost in time, of its atavistic oldness.

Tenuta Geremia is centuries old, but none had told us, that's satisfying my historical curiosity that we got there,

- photo 2

- photo 3

but we had to realize it, once brought to light its old plants after months of land reclamation work, only by observing with much care in our woods and in the garden:

One day, we do not know exactly who decided to plant a box bush (Buxus microphylla), probably to make a dividing hedge over the dry stone wall that was at the center of the front lawn .. we don't know precisely whose were those hands that have planted it, but we know almost certainly that it happened centuries ago: today, after several years, we look at it as a real wood.

- photo 4

- photo 5

.. Yes, it took centuries before than such a slow growing plant could constitute an undergrowth of more than 100 square metres inhabited by squirrels, rabbits, redstarts, blackbirds living in perfect harmony.
A tangle of branches,

- photo 6

the bark became withered and grey by time,

- photo 7

talks about hard and far too long winters of frost, captures admiring glances and tells of how its trees, taller more than 24 feet, with silhouettes feeding enchanted fantasies,

make a sort of dome, guarding proudly its inhabitants by making them protected from the hot of the summer

and from the inclemency of the weather during the winter.

Behind the house, beyond the lime - trees, Nature performs its triumph with dignified pride, its prevalence over the rules, often reckless, imposed by humans, in a sort of “painting” that, even today, goes on inspiring me in wonder and deep inner joy: that which today has become a prairie was once a vast vineyard and, under the three twins nuts that are part of the undergrowth that runs alongside it, was placed a cistern for the installation of verdigris: look at how today the nut tree and the tank which was leaning against it are "married"

- photo 15

- photo 16

try to imagine how many years have occurred before that happened, look at how much old ivy increase in suggestion this embrace

- photo 17

- photo 18

- photo 19

and how, inexplicably, this tank is constantly full of water, in every season, allowing the birds inhabiting our forests not to get down to the river to drink.

- photo 20

These trees are treasure and heritage of the Nature that created them and of the Time that saved them, they pulse of the lifeblood flowing in their capillaries, they need affection, caresses and hugs and aren't, after all, so much different from us, they only speak another language, but, believe me, it's enough to stop to be able and listen to them and communicate with them.

Well, honestly, is faced with events like this that I understand how the Romantic philosophers deduced from Nature and its expressions the existence of a "force" majestic, unstoppable, sometimes so sensational as scary as so immeasurably "great" that cannot be understood with our rational limits, but which can be experienced only emotionally, the existence of the supersensible, we would say, of the infinite, to quote Hegel (Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, German philosopher, 1770 -1831 ), the sublime ... to use a term dear to every thinker of the nineteenth century!

The existence of nature is not based, as the theism illudes itself, on the existence of God - not at all, it is just the opposite: the existence of God, or rather the belief in His existence, has its sole foundation in existence of nature.
Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach (German philospher, 1804 - 1872), The Essence of Religion (Das Wesen des Christentums), 1845

I'm fondly greeting and thanking you.
