Lazy days of Fall.

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruined choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.

William Shakespeare, Sonnet 73, 1609

Che tu possa scorgere in me quel periodo dell'anno
dove prima i dolci uccelli cantavano.

William Shakespeare, Sonnet 73, 1609

“Is not this a true autumn day?
Just the still melancholy that I love - that makes life and nature harmonise.
The birds are consulting about their migrations, the trees are putting on the hectic or the pallid hues of decay, and begin to strew the ground, that one's very footsteps may not disturb the repose of earth and air, while they give us a scent that is a perfect anodyne to the restless spirit. Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."

[Letter to Miss Eliot, Oct. 1st, 1841]

[Lettera a Miss Eliot, 1 ottobre 1841] "

A presto 💕

If Spring delights our hearts with the awakening of Nature that becomes apparent everywhere, the beginning of Autumn, when days are getting imperceptibly shorter, and become increasingly milder leaving behind the scorching heat of the Summer months, and the country takes amber tones, on the backs of the valleys, on the meadows surrounded by a sun that seems golden more and more, as it, little by little, moves away from the planet preparing us slowly to the colder weather and in the sunsets, coloring the sky of blue-green shades perled by the light emitted by the moon, it's for my temperament the most idyllic and charming period of the whole year.

The fruits harvested during the Summer, particularly generous this year, have become precious preserves for the Winter, and now are all kept in the pantry, as dictated by the oldest traditions

The scents of the last blooms of the year are becoming more intense and enjoyable, as if to greet the Summer with the intensity of their fragrances ...

and also the animals living free in nature savor this moment of rest, between the intense period of reproduction and the long Winter hibernation, amongst the leaves that turn yellow and fall more and more numerous to the ground, soothed by the singing of birds that have made return from the woods to find backe their nests close to home ...

And before taking my leave of you, and to do it with the utmost gratitude, I leave you with a quote from George Eliot - pseudonym of Mary Anne (Marian) Evans (1819-1880) - I holds in my heart

[Letter to Miss Eliot, Oct. 1st, 1841]

And may your Fall be as happy as never before !

See you soon 💕

Angie's MOSAIC MONDAY

~ My little old world's Anniversary (and a Giveaway for you) ~ When Love becomes Art.

- Do You know what friendship is ? - He asked.
-Yes, - Said the Egyptian girl.- To be brother and sister, two souls which touch themselves without blend into each other,  the two fingers of one hand.
-And Love? - Continued Gringoire.
-Oh! Love! - She said, and her voice trembled, and her eye shone.-  It is to be two and no more than one person. A man and a woman who melt together in an angel. It is the sky.

Victor Hugo, Notre Dame de Paris, 1831

They have flowed three years since My little old world came to life, and I use these words because for the dream that it was in its origin, you have given him a real consistency, you did it become real, and ... how,  how many wonderful people I have met since I started walking this path ... people who have taught me the true value of friendship, through their blogs speaking  to the heart, through the gifts that were sent to me, gifts demonstrating how the heart drives one's hands, creating projects that often become true art ....

This post, therefore, not only wants to celebrate My little old world, but each of you, and also wants to be a tribute to those who wanted to be close to me in this year, recently started, with their art ....

He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.

(St. Francis of Assisi)

These are the mastrepieces made by Claudia at the blog Lavanda e Lillà who, with the patience, tje passion and the skillness of the ancient embroiderers, packs with needle and thread works of art which seem to come from the past ... these objects do part of a set for needlework, they're a tip pins and a 'find-scissors' little pillow, which I will take as knickknacks in my living room, amongst my favorite antiques !

- picture 2

And here's what Kelly-Anne at the blog heart❤made can create: this so lovely girl lives in South Africa and on a windy day, I hung all her little tags, so romantic and charming to accompany gifts, to one of our Sakura tree in full bloom, hoping that the wind would had bring her a message of love, from my heart to hers !

- picture 3

The last Giveaway won from Franca at the blog Righe da Favola: she's a friend with a golden heart and her creativity knows no bounds, but she's very capable especially with the hook!
This is the second I win from this sweet, gentle friend and as I promised, it will decorate the inside of one of the entrance doors of Tenuta Geremia Short Lets to welcome my guests with the same joy with which she he created it.

- picture 4

A card arrived from the United States, a wonderful gift by Connie at the blog Connie's Crafty Creations who so wanted to participate to my birthday, in a completely unexpected way, just over a month ago; Connie creates wonderful cards for any event end everyone and always manages to find a way to guess the tastes of those who receive them ... she is now a teacher in this art, as well.

- picture 5

And finally I'm introducing you June at the blog Inspired by... who was one of the first lady to follow My little old world and to win my heart and since then we're linked by a very special friendship ... June views life with the eyes of Devotion and with the pictures she takes, capturing precious moments especially of the life f the birds surrounding her home, she creates greeting cards about which I knew nothing until the day of my birthday !

- picture 6

Said the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge:

Friendship is a shelter under a tree.

but I think it's even much, much more than this !

Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to think of the thoughts, nor to measure words, but only have to donate them. Just as they are chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of kindness, will blow the rest away.

(George Eliot)

It's a very little thing what I am about to offer as a gift, but it's still something that you can keep in my memory and that of my blog which you so lovingly follow, this time is something made by me, a gift that speaks of the past that all we love and that you can use as a bookmark of the book you are reading or as a stop-page of your journal; these objects that recall the past are made of old-gold-plated metal and are topped by the sign of the imperial crown made of filigree ... couln't  I put in the cameos the image of the two empresses who made the Victorian era ?!

- picture 7

To take part to this Giveaway it is necessary to become a follower of My little old world, if you're not yet, and click ' I like' on the fb page that is linked to it ... and don't forget to specify in your comment which one you prefer, if the one with the portrait of Empress Elisabeth, or rather the one with the effigy of Queen Victoria, if you were the winner.
