The most beautiful Spring's Flowers - Edwardian Little Ladies.

I cannot meet the Spring - unmoved -
I feel the old desire -
A Hurry with a lingering, mixed,
A Warrant to be fair -

A Competition in my sense
With something, hid in Her -
And as she vanishes, Remorse
I saw no more of Her -

Emily Dickinson, J1051 (1865) 1

Ad ogni incontro con la Primavera - non so star quieta -
Sento l'antico desiderio -
un'Ansia mista ad un'Attesa,
Una promessa di beltà -

Una Competizione in tutto il mio essere
Con qualcosa che in Essa è nascosto -
E quando svanisce, rimane il Rimorso
Di non averLa vista abbastanza -

An altered look about the hills—
A Tyrian light the village fills—
A wider sunrise in the morn—
A deeper twilight on the lawn—
A print of a vermillion foot—
A purple finger on the slope—
A flippant fly upon the pane—
A spider at his trade again—
An added strut in Chanticleer—
A flower expected everywhere—
An axe shrill singing in the woods—
Fern odors on untravelled roads—
All this and more I cannot tell—
A furtive look you know as well—
And Nicodemus’ Mystery
Receives its annual reply!

Emily Dickinson, J140

Qualcosa di cambiato nell'aspetto dei monti;
una luce splendente che riempie il villaggio;
è un'aurora più vasta;
più profondo il crepuscolo sul prato;
l'orma di un piede vermiglio;
e un dito purpureo sul pendio;
una mosca che sbatte contro i vetri;
un ragno che ritorna al suo lavoro;
più maestoso l'incedere del gallo;
un'attesa di fiori dappertutto;
l'ascia che canta, stridula, nei boschi;
odor di felci su vie non battute -
queste e altre cose che non posso dire -
l'aria furtiva che anche voi sapete:
di Nicodemo il mistero
ha la sua replica annuale.

 The young lambs are bleating in the meadows ;
   The young birds are chirping in the nest ;
The young fawns are playing with the shadows ;
   The young flowers are blowing toward the west—
Go out, children, from the mine and from the city —
   Sing out, children, as the little thrushes do —
Pluck you handfuls of the meadow-cowslips pretty
   Laugh aloud, to feel your fingers let them through !

The Cry of the Children, ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING

I giovani agnelli stanno belando nei prati,
I giovani uccelli stanno cinguettando nel nido,
I giovani cerbiatti stanno giocando con le ombre,
I giovani fiori stanno sbocciando verso occidente -
Uscite, bambini, dalla miniera e dalla città,
cantate forte, bambini, come fanno i piccoli tordi;
Cogliete manciate di leggiadre primule di campo,
Ridete forte nel sentire le vostre dita lasciarle passare.

The Cry of the Children, ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING 3

A presto
