Our Country Style Easter Centerpiece

 For our Easter Sunday table I wanted to give life to a centerpiece which could talk to everybody of the freshness of Nature, of old ways, of simplicity, of the very first signs of the new season made of  colours and smells: 

that's our Spring.

Of course I needed some fresh hen eggs and a basket, a little basket, just those for picking up berries.  Thus I decided to boil the eggs until they get hard-boiled, to work better with them.  And, after all, if they're hard-boiled they can be preserved until Easter and also be eaten, maybe at dinner, when the centerpiece will have already done its "job".

I took some hemp string, my scissors, and started by sewing a granny's doily crochet inside my basket with basting thread, softer then the "filofort", to stop the doily in some points so that the thread was not be visible.

Then I went out looking for some inspirations, having a look at what was already in bloom in our meadows.

I collected some violets, white and light purple, some hawthorn flowers, a few blades of grass, a little moss, a little bunch of gypsophila and I went back to my work.

With much delicacy I tried to wrap the flowers and a few blades of grass or a little moss with three, four turns of string, securing them eventually with a bow, which is not easy, because the string slips on the egg.

You have to be patientfull for doing such works, but the result will always be worth it, it will always gratify you, that's sure.

And little by little, my centerpiece took shape...

I eventually put a little moss between the eggs, and I finished!

It goes without saying that, given I used fresh flowers juat picked, I have to prepare each egg again on the morning of Easter Sunday, just before putting my centerpiece on the table.  If you prefer you may use fake flowers and prepare your centerpiece whenever you want.

Il nostro Centrotavola pasquale 

in stile Country

Per la nostra tavola della domenica di Pasqua ho voluto dare vita ad un centrotavola che potesse parlare a tutti della freschezza della Natura, delle usanze antiche, di semplicità, dei primissimi segnali della nuova stagione fatta di colori e odori,

che è la nostra primavera.

Naturalmente mi servivano delle uova di gallina fresche e un cestino, un cestino piccolo, di quelli per raccogliere le bacche. Così ho deciso di lessare le uova fino a farle diventare sode, per poterle lavorare meglio. E poi, se sono sode, si possono conservare fino a Pasqua e anche mangiare, magari a cena, quando il centrotavola avrà già svolto il suo "compito".

Ho preso dello spago di canapa, le forbici e ho iniziato a cucire un centrino all'uncinetto all'interno del cestino con del filo da imbastitura, più morbido del filo di cotone, per fissare il centrino in alcuni punti in modo che il filo non fosse visibile.

Poi sono uscita in cerca di ispirazione, osservando cosa già è in fiore nei nostri prati.

Ho raccolto delle violette, bianche e lilla chiaro, dei fiori di biancospino, qualche filo d'erba, un po' di muschio, un mazzetto di gypsophila e sono tornata in casa al mio lavoro.

Con molta delicatezza ho cercato di avvolgere i fiori e qualche filo d'erba o un po' di muschio con tre o quattro giri di spago, fissandoli infine con un fiocco, cosa non facile perché lo spago scivola sull'uovo.

Bisogna avere pazienza per fare lavori del genere, ma ne varrà sempre la pena, il risultato vi ripagherà sempre, questo è certo.

E poco per volta, il mio centrotavola ha preso forma...

In ultime ho messo un po' di muschio tra le uova, ed ho concluso!

Va da sé che, avendo usato fiori freschi appena colti, dovrò preparare nuovamente ogni uovo la mattina di Pasqua, poco prima di disporre il centrotavola.

Se preferite, potete usare fiori finti e preparare il vostro centrotavola quando volete.

Possa la Gioia della Resurrezione 

riempire il Vostro cuore di Pace e di Speranza 

e che questa S. Pasqua non sia solo una domenica speciale, ma un invito a rinascere ogni volta che cadete.
